Her Work
Donghwa Kang’s present work focuses on the preparation of scientific data for a sustainable and open reuse. She is involved in KASCADE-Grande studying cosmic ray initiated air-showers in the ultra-high energy range. The accumulated data resources have now been published at the web portal KCDC: KASCADE Cosmic Ray Data Centre. The purpose is to allow the general public the use of the data and to provide the tools to analyze the data measured by the experiment. Kang emphasizes the need of a Global Cosmic Ray Analysis and Data Center in Astroparticle Physics to combine data of different experiments for multi-messenger analyses. She is also involved in IceTop, the cosmic-ray surface array of the IceCube neutrino observatory at the South Pole to study in more details the energy spectrum and mass composition of primary cosmic rays.
